There’s a new music generator called Suno. Through its custom creation mode, you can specify a set of lyrics and a musical style, and it’ll create a song. Alternatively, you can just give a more general description of the sort of song you want. And it will generate a song within those parameters. In about a month it will seem terribly uncool and cringe, but right now, especially for those of us with no capacity as composers, it’s a fun toy.
Listen to this:
Now I’ve paid (perhaps foolishly) for access to the full version so I can generate essentially unlimited songs. You could just create a free account yourself, but some people don’t like doing that, and besides a collective spirit is nice, so I thought it might be a fun activity if we generated songs together.
There are a few restrictions. The lyrics can’t be copyright-protected. The musical style can’t reference a specific artist or album. I will forbid anything I think Suno will reject, as well as any prompt that I find objectionable at my sole discretion yada yada.
Back in 2004 I was rolling BJJ and there was a filk on the mat called 50 Ways to Use Your Levers. I can't find it anywhere online; can't imagine how such a smash hit - heh - went away. If you would please recreate I promise to sing it loud.
A dirge to the era of humanity would seem appropriate.
