I remember you from Black Rose in Newtown back in the day. I’m here in Canberra, it’s not a real authentic city, but it’s lovely all the same, just wait until Autumn and you’ll begin to appreciate its charms. I’d be happy to catch up for a quiet lager after work on a weekday. Plenty of options in the city.
I spent a year in Canberra from December 1971, labouring for the Dept of the Interior to finance motorcycling and drug abuse, house sharing with other FNQ louts and Canberra locals. I loved it, saw Spectrum's Terminal Buzz at Dallas Brooks Hall. A Canberra local remains a friend, I can't imagine him anywhere else. And a nephew and his husband have built successful careers there. I visited for a week in 2001 and couldn't find anything I recognized, until I looked out from the grand entrance to Parliament House and saw the old Parliament looking forlorn in the distance.
No longer live there, but it is not so bad. I did 7 years hard time there. Some good bars and restaurants. It is certainly much better than it used to be as well if recents visits are anything to go by.

I'm here since 2015. It does have its downsides, but as a parent of two young kids, it is generally very good.
I had to live in Canberra for about 6 months in 1988 (army posting). I would not recommend it. It's why I sought discharge.
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich...

Although spent my entire adult life working in the APS, I never lived in Canberra. Spent my working life in Sydney and now retired in Brisbane.
Grew up in Canberra a couple of decades ago. Commiserations 😂
